7 Benefits of God's Word

Nothing has transformed and equipped my life like the Bible. In Ephesians 2:8-10 we are reminded,

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

One truth that I am constantly learning more about is the fact that we are saved by grace.  It's nothing we have done to deserve it.  But with that amazing work of grace in our lives comes the opportunity to do something with it.2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

We are not just created to do something, but God has given us His Word to be equipped to do it!  I love that!I'm thankful for the truth that the bible speaks to me, the life it breathes into me and most of all, how it reveals and reminds me of the grace that changes us through the work that Jesus has done for us on the cross. Here are 7 Benefits of God’s Word:1.     It DirectsPsalm 119:1052.     It RevealsJames 1:22-25Hebrews 4:123.     It ProtectsEphesians 6:10-28Psalm 119:9-114.     It FeedsMatthew 4:45.     It BuildsMatthew 7:24-296.     It Teaches2 Timothy 3:167.     It TransformsRomans 12:1-2_________________________________________________If you don't have a habit of reading the bible, I would encourage you to start. Here are a few resources I would recommend:Don't have a bible reading plan?  check out YouVersion and create your own bible reading plan, or use one that is already created.Get a version of the bible you enjoy to read and can understand. If you are new to reading your bible, I would recommend the NLT (New Living Translation) or the NIV (New International Version).Check out the book "The Divine Mentor: Growing Your Faith as You Sit at the Feet of the Savior" by Wayne Cordeiro. He talks in depth about the difference that daily devotions make, and the process of journaling to help get the truth of God's Word into your heart using the SOAP method (Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer).Try journaling with your bible reading. I use the Life Journal and I love it!
