What I've been reading

I am always on the lookout for a good book.  One of my favorite ways to stay sharp, grow and be refreshed is by reading - and taking a week of vacation I was able to read through quite a few.  Here are some of the books (with a short summary) that I have read over the past month.

MISFIT by Chris Durso
“Jesus never calls us to fit in.  He calls us to lead the way for others as we follow Him.”  I had our student summer interns read through this book and they loved it.

Choosing to Cheat by Andy Stanley
In this book Andy Stanley talks about the importance of keeping family a priority.  No one has enough time for everything - so decisions have to be made to keep your family the priority.

Surprised by Grace by Tullian Tchividjian
Pastor Tullian uses the story of Jonah to describe and demonstrate the amazing Grace of God.  A lot of fresh perspective on the story of Jonah and on the grace of God.

Prodigal God by Timothy Keller
Great book communicating the gospel through the story of the Prodigal Son from Luke 15.  I would highly recommend this book.

A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards
Classic book looking at the lives of three kings: Saul, David, and Absalom.  This book deals with the heart of a leader and facing brokenness.

Leaders who Last by Dave Kraft
Loved this book on leadership.  It focuses specifically on the area of pastoral leadership/church leadership.  A lot of great principles in this book.
