He could have...
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us’”. -Matthew 1:23 (NLT)
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)
God’s plan was to be with us. He could have chosen to be at a distance. He could have decided to put the weight of our choices on us. He could have required works and self-effort to open the door of relationship with Him. He could have.
But He didn’t. He decided to make a way for us, even when we wanted nothing to do with Him. He saw the broken condition that we were in and He made a way for our wholeness and healing. He saw that even in our greatest efforts, we still fall short. So in His perfect wisdom He sent the answer that held the solution to all of our needs: A Savior.
He could have sent a military strength. He could have sent an amazing political leader. He could have chosen a different route than the one He took. He could have.
The amazing thing to me is that He sent a baby. In all of our best plans we probably would have chosen something different. Let’s be honest: a baby doesn’t usually provide much for the people around them. A baby is completely dependent on those who are taking care of it. He could have chose something different, but He didn’t.
Next time you are facing a challenge, a trial, a fight, remember what God chose to do. Remember how He chose to do it.
If the most significant hope that mankind could ever experience came through a baby, I think His abilities might just be enough to bring us through whatever we face in life!
