Three Voices Everyone Needs

Some of the greatest influences in life are the voices that we listen to. Many of us have allowed the voices of coaches or teachers to equip us and move us forward. Others have had great mentors say the right thing to bring about lasting and helpful change. At times we may have allowed the wrong voice to gain too much influence over us, robbing us of progress and development.

There will never be a lack of voices in your life. The key is making sure you are proactive to find the right voices.

Here are three voices that I believe everyone needs in their lives. Finding theses voices is something that will require intentionality and determination. But, as with most things that are of value, the work is worth it.

THREE VOICES EVERYONE NEEDS

1. Someone who will tell you not what you WANT to hear, but what you NEED to hear.

We all love the voices in our lives that say exactly what we want to hear. The truth is that we all will need voices in our lives that speak into what we actually need, not just what we want in the moment. This is the voice of wisdom. We all need people outside of us who can look at where we are at and where we desire to get to - and speak the truth to us that we NEED to hear. This voice isn't always comfortable, but it is always valuable.

2. Someone who will remind you not just what you ARE, but what you CAN BE.

We need voices in our lives that are voices of faith and destiny. If all you have in your ear are people speaking to where you are at, and never pushing you to consider where you can be, it is time to pursue some new voices. I love that Jesus, when He was speaking to Peter said, "You are Simon...but you will be Peter." (John 1:42) Make sure you have a voice in your life that is calling you beyond where you are currently at.

3. Someone who wants more FOR you than FROM you.

There will always be voices in your life that have a self-centered motivation. They want something for them. Make sure that in your life you find some people who want more FOR YOU than FROM YOU. There are many people who are consumed with a "what's in it for me" mentality. People who want more for you than from you are thinking, "How can I be a blessing to them."

I'd love to hear from you. What are some other voices that you believe are vital to have in our lives? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
