21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8 (ESV)

What we do first is important. It sets the focus for what comes after. This applies to how we start our day, how we begin a project or what we focus on at the beginning of a new year. Starting this Sunday (January 6th), Life Center will be engaging in 21 Days of prayer and fasting. I would love for you to prayerfully consider taking a part in this special focus of seeking God personally and corporately.

We are believing for Jesus to move in lives and throughout the life of our church community. We are setting aside this time to give intentional focus to pursuing Jesus. Something powerful happens when the church does this collectively.

Maybe fasting is a part of your ongoing spiritual disciplines. Maybe you have never taken an opportunity to be a part of prayer and fasting. No matter what your experience is, I want to encourage you to pray and ask God what He wants you to do in this season of prayer and fasting.

So why should we fast?

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

Here are a few things to be aware of:

Wednesday nights @ 7 PM

At both our Central and Rainier campus, each of the next 3 Wednesday nights we will come together for a time of corporate prayer. Make it a priority to join us for these evenings. There will be no livestream of these prayer meetings, so plan on joining us at one of our locations!

Monday - Friday mornings @ 6 am

For those who want to join me, I will be praying Monday through Friday at 6 am in Gray Chapel at our Central Campus.
